Who this policy covers
This policy explains how CHRGE handles personal data when you use our websites, customer application, CNG financing experience, station portal, administrative services, communications, and related mobility services in Nigeria.
CHRGE is the data controller for information we decide how and why to process. A financing, identity-verification, payment, conversion, mapping, or communications partner may separately act as a controller under its own notice.
Personal data we collect
Depending on the service you use, we may collect:
- Account and contact information: name, email address, telephone number, password credentials, profile details, and communication preferences.
- Identity and eligibility information: date of birth, gender, marital status, BVN, NIN, government-issued identification, proof of address, phone-verification records, and identity-check results.
- Employment and financial information: employment status, employer, occupation, income band, bank statements or other income evidence, requested conversion package, deposit choice, financing plan, payment schedule, and repayment status.
- Vehicle and conversion information: make, model, year, colour, mileage, fuel and engine details, registration number, chassis and engine numbers, conversion appointments, and service status.
- Application and household information: application progress, documents, review notes, next-of-kin name, contact details and relationship. You must have authority to provide another person's information.
- Location and station activity: location supplied by your browser with permission, searches, saved stations, directions, station submissions, gas-availability reports, and interactions with station listings.
- Technical and usage information: device, browser, IP address, session, security and diagnostic records, pages viewed, and cookies or similar local-storage technologies.
Where the data comes from
We receive data directly from you, from your device, from station operators and representatives, from authorised verification or financing partners, from payment and communications providers, and from public or licensed station-information sources. We may combine these sources to verify accuracy, prevent fraud, and deliver the service.
How and why we use it
We use personal data to create and secure accounts; provide station discovery and saved-station alerts; process, verify and manually review CNG financing applications; administer conversion appointments and repayment records; communicate service and safety updates; respond to support requests; prevent fraud and misuse; improve reliability; enforce agreements; and comply with legal, regulatory, audit and reporting duties.
Our lawful bases may include taking steps at your request before a contract, performing a contract, complying with law, protecting vital interests, pursuing legitimate interests that do not override your rights, and consent where required. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing already lawfully completed.
Financing reviews and decisions
Application information may be used to assess identity, affordability, eligibility, fraud risk and suitable financing terms. CHRGE's current process includes human review. If we later introduce a decision based solely on automated processing that produces a legal or similarly significant effect, we will provide the notices and safeguards required by law, including an appropriate way to request human review.
International transfers
Some technology providers may process information outside Nigeria. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we will use a transfer mechanism and safeguards recognised by applicable Nigerian data-protection law, assess the destination and recipient where required, and limit the information transferred.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above. The period depends on whether your account or application is active, whether financing or repayment remains outstanding, applicable identity, financial, tax, audit and limitation requirements, security needs, disputes, and your deletion request. When retention is no longer justified, we delete, anonymise, or securely isolate the data. Session-only draft references are removed when the browser session ends.
Security
We use administrative, technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data. These include access controls, audit records, encrypted transport, restricted document access, and encryption of sensitive identifiers such as BVN and NIN in our application systems. No system is completely secure, so please use a unique password and notify us promptly of suspected account misuse.
Your privacy rights
Subject to the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and applicable exceptions, you may ask to access, correct, update, erase, restrict or object to processing of your data; request portability where applicable; withdraw consent; and receive information about significant automated decisions.
Send a request to team@gochrge.com. We may verify your identity before acting. You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Children
CHRGE accounts and financing services are intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly accept a financing application from a child. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Contact and policy changes
Privacy questions and requests may be sent to team@gochrge.com. CHRGE operates from Lagos, Nigeria.
We may update this policy when our services, providers, or legal duties change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice where a change is material.
